Loved in Japan for more than 40 years, PIETRO did not begin as a food company. It began in the kitchen of a small restaurant.

But first, it has to taste good.

The PIETRO dressings selected for Davelle Ya are No MSG and Gluten-Free. But PIETRO is not defined only by what is left out — it began as a restaurant, and that restaurant mentality still matters today.

What is omotenashi?

It is often translated as Japanese hospitality. At its heart, it means paying attention to the person in front of you and asking: “What could make this person a little happier?” For Murata, the answer was once as simple as serving salad while a guest waited for pasta.

Hospitality is not something added to the product. Hospitality is why the product exists.

That small act — a salad for a waiting guest — eventually became PIETRO Dressing.

Omotenashi became culture

  1. 1980Kunihiko Murata opens a small pasta restaurant in Fukuoka.
  2. 1981The dressing guests kept asking for goes on sale.
  3. 2017Murata passes away suddenly. PIETRO inherits more than his recipes.
  4. TodayHis ideas continue through PIETRO SPIRITS, which guides training, recognition and everyday behavior inside the company.

President Yasuyuki Takahashi describes its heart in one word: gratitude. For the customers who came to the first restaurant, for the people who continue to choose PIETRO — and a responsibility to think about what might make them happy.

Why Davelle Ya chose PIETRO

The first reason is simple: we tasted it, and it was delicious. No MSG. Gluten-free. Easy to use at home, and useful far beyond salad. Behind that flavor is more than 40 years of restaurant hospitality — PIETRO became a product because customers tasted a restaurant dressing and wanted to bring it home. At Davelle, we want guests to have that same experience.Making people a little happier through delicious food.
